German WWII > Belt Buckles > Army >
A fine tabbed one! The rectangular shaped buckle is constructed of a die struck steel that has been painted green. The obverse roundel depicts an embossed closed winged Heer eagle griping a mobile swastika in its talons on a rough round background. The eagle is above a half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom and is underneath the Heer motto reading: "Gott Mit Uns" (God with us). The wreath and motto are both in front of a decorative lined type pattern which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a smooth rectangular backing. The reverse shows green paint and both steel prongs and catch. Attached to the prongs is a brown leather tab which has been folded over and stitched in place. It is maker marked. The buckle measures approximately 2 ½ inch wide by 2 inches high. Beautiful detail remains!. Included is a black leather belt measuring approx 36", it is marked "95", it shows some minor surface cracking and age but is supple and in good shape with all the stitching intact. A nice set!
