A rare one! The Lübeck Hanseatic Cross was founded in 1915, jointly sponsored by the three Hanseatic cities of Hamburg, Bremen and Lübeck. It was awarded for merit achievements in WWI. It is constructed out of a two-piece, die struck coper base that has been silver plated with red translucent enamel work with a soldered on tombak based and enameled coat of arms. The obverse features a centrally placed Lübeck coat of arms above a red pattee style cross. The reverse reads "Für Verdienst im Kriege 1914" (For Merit in the War 1914), to the center and is above a pattee style cross. To the top is a double loop and ring. It has enamel cracking. It measures approximately 1 9/16 inches wide and tall. A rare one.
