Here we have a DRK (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz) Red Cross Buckle and Buckle, that was instituted in 1938. It is constructed out of an injection molded aluminum-alloy base that has been silver washed and burnished. The obverse depicts a closed winged red cross eagle with a mobile swastika on its chest and the Red Cross emblem in its talons. The eagle is surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath that is open to the top and tied together at the bottom. All of this lies on a decorative pebbled rectangular background. The reverse is marked: "Ges. Gesch. 1". The aluminum prongs and integral catch remain in excellent condition! Wonderful detail remains throughout the whole piece. It measures approximately 2 1/2 inches wide by 1 7/8 inches high. Attached to the buckle is a 1st pattern "90" sized brown leather belt. It features a peened on plated steel hook to the one end and a stitched on 14 hole punched tongue to the other. The leather shows crazing yet remains in good shape. A fine belt and buckle!
