A quality motted piece by a rarer maker! The bright blade on this one is beautiful! The dark and crisp acid etched "Blut und Ehre!" (Blood and Honor!) motto, "P. Lungstrass Solingen - Ohlig" / "RZM M7/57" maker marks are all beautifully executed and provide an awesome contrast to the bight blade! The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is tightly secured. The blade rates an Exc++/NM. It shows minor age grey/spotting along with the common surface scratches/runner marks throughout. The original black leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard is in fine shape. The obverse shows pitting throughout. It has been covered in a black shoe polish to darken and protect it. It retains the majority of its original paint coverage and remains completely dent free! The blackened scabbard leather looks good. The back vertical portion is fastened in two pieces, an indication that it was the end of the roll. All of its original rivets are intact and the snap continue to work well! The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt is in great shape! It continues to retain 95%+ plating coverage. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are in near perfect shape being tightly secured by two steel rivets. The HJ diamond shows damage, yet retains 75%+ of tis enamel work! A beautiful blade and a rare transitional maker mark!
