Well here we have a decent matching example of a Municipal Police Bayonet by WKC! The plated bade on this one has age spots and wear. The double stamped knights head / "Weyersburg Kirschbalm & Co Solingen" maker mark and spine proof stamp are all nicely executed! The blade rates a solid Exc++. It shows evidence of the cut down blade (all of these were that way post Weirmar period). The black municipal leather scabbard body has the odd scuff and age crazing yet it remains nice and dark. There is quite a bit of stitching split open to the reverse. The four vertical lines running through it giving it that finishing touch of German detail! The nickel-silver based and plated scalloped scabbard fittings have nicely patinaed with age. The reverse of the top fitting is marked "S.B. 11279." and matches the reverse of the crossguard. This indicates issue to Schutzpolizei Polizeiverwaltung Berlin. The scabbard snugly fits the brass based hilt. The hilt matches the scabbard in color, wear and patina. It depicts burnished detail throughout, with the oak leaves, acorns and highly detailed pommel eagle! The multi-toned stag grip plates are tightly secured with two aluminum rivets. The centrally placed 2nd pattern aluminum police eagle is properly pined, The eagles head seems to be damaged, (or decapitated!). A decent example of a matching police bayonet! Snatch it up before someone else does!
