Army Sport Shirt Insignia ‐ Uniform Removed

Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

Here we have a Heer (Army) Sport Shirt Insignia. The sports shirt eagle (Sportabzeichen) was introduced on July 4th 1935 and was to be worn on the front centre chest of the white sleeveless sports shirt. It is constructed out of a machine embroidered black and white cotton on a white rayon base that has been stitched to a white cut off cotton sleeveless shirt. The half-moon shaped obverse depicts a black Heer eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons. The reverse shows where it had been stitched to the sleeveless shirt and was cut off (uniform removed). It shows age toning and a minor soilage spotting. It measures approximately 9 ¼ inches wide by 4 ¾ inches tall. Getting an unissued one is easy finding one that’s been cut off a shirt quite difficult!
