Here we have a M40 Army DD Helmet with post-war camo and post-war applied decals. The shell is constructed out of a stamped piece of steel sheet metal that has been green textured factory painted. It later has been post-war repainted in a tan with what I think is sand in it cause is rough. The shell has a folded over edge, embossed air vents and three split rivets. The interior has a steel liner with two square rings. The interior liner is made of tan brown leather and is also sized “56”. It remains intact with its original draw string and chin strap all fingers are supple and intact. The steel buckle continues to work well. The helmet is serial marked "1174" to the back and is also maker marked and sized “Q64”, very very hard to read. The exterior is in good shape. The decals have also been post-war applied. This is complete with a nicely marked original 1943 dated chin strap. A good filler.
