Silver DRL Sports Badge with Qualification Document

Here we have a Silver DRL Sports Badge (Deutscher Reichsbund für Leibesübungen - German National Union for Physical Training) along with an Award Booklet. The silver grade DRL badge was awarded to men and women between the ages of 18-32 who passed the national fitness test for a total of eight years or individuals between the ages of 32-40 who passed the fitness test during a 12 month period. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been silver washed and burnished. The oval shaped obverse depicts a centrally placed “DRL” in stylized letters which is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath which is tied together at the bottom with a ribbon and swastika. The reverse correctly displays a; soldered block hinge, soldered rectangular wire catch and flat wire pin. It is also marked “DRGM 35269” and “Wernstein Jena”. It continues to retain beautiful detail but most of the silver wash is worn from the obverse. It measures approximately 1 ½ inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. Included here is a DRL award booklet with the participants photo and several signatures and stamps. A rarer piece!
