A beautiful piece all around! An Early Model 1933 SA Dagger (Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch) by Carl Fr. Kuhrt. The blade on this one is in excellent condition! The acid etched "Alles für Deutschland" motto and "Carl Fr. Kührt Kom.-Ges. Zella Mehlis" maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is easily visible all the way from the hilt to the tip. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! This blade rates an Exc++/NM. It shows minor spotting and the common surface scratches throughout. The scabbard is steel based and brown anodized. It remains completely dent free, holds a wonderful brown finish and continues to retain a thin lacquer coating! The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings look excellent matching the crossguards in color and patina! The ball remains perfectly round and all four scabbard screws remain tightly intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "He" (Hessen). The brown hardwood grip is wonderful! It has beautiful grain and tone variations. No flakes, chips or cracks! The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 90%+ of its enamel. This one comes with a homemade vertical hanger! The leather shows some finish wear yet remains in good condition. The steel buckle continues to work well! A wonderful piece you will be happy with!
