An interesting large font RS silber Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen that has been period repaired. The Silver Infantry Assault Badge was awarded to foot infantrymen who had taken part in combat action on different days and met the required award criteria. It is constructed out of a die struck, zinc-alloy base that has been silver washed. The oval shaped obverse depicts a rifle and bayonet below a Heer closed winged eagle clutching a mobile swastika within its talons. This is all surrounded by an acorn and oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The full back reverse of the badge features a raise “R.S” (Roudolf Souval, Wien) with a period repaired soldered on buntmetal rectangular plate, sheet metal hinge, soldered on round wire catch and sturdy buntmetall round wire pin. They all remain in well working condition and are non-magnetic. The obverse details continue to display nicely. It measures approximately 2 7/16 inches tall by 1 7/8 inches wide. A unique piece!
