Here we have an Early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Gebr Grafrath (Gräwiso) of Solingen-Widdert. The early style thin blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto and “Gräwiso Solingen” / “Ges. Geschützt.” maker mark are all nicely executed! The fit continues to remain nice and tight and the tip comes to a nice point. The blade rates a solid Exc+/Exc++. It has been ever-so-slightly sharpened, shows surface scratches, age spotting and age grey throughout. The original brown leather buffer remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks excellent! 95%+ of its original paint coverage remains intact. It remains completely dent free. The scabbard leather is in great condition. It has all of its rivets intact and the snap continues to work well! The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 95%+ of its plating. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are in near perfect condition. Both solid nickel silver rivets tightly secure the grip plates to the hilt. The small HJ diamond shows minor surface scratches yet retains 97%+ of its enamel. A great looking early one!
