Once pieces like this get into a collector hands they hardly ever leave collector circles. If you've been looking for this now is your chance. Here we have a Spange 1939 zum Eisernen Kreuz 2. Klasse by L/12 (C.E. Juncker of Berlin). This 2nd pattern variant is rarer than the 1st pattern variant. The 2nd Class Spange to the Iron Cross 1939 was awarded to individuals who has received the 2nd class Iron Cross in WWI and would have earned the 2nd class Iron Cross in WWII. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been silver washed. The obverse of the badge depicts a German national eagle, with out-stretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons and is above a trapezoid shaped pebbled bannered that reads "1939". The full back reverse is maker marked "L/12" (C.E. Juncker of Berlin) and retains all four soldered on flatwire tombak prongs. It measures approximately 1 1/4 inches wide and tall. It retains beautiful detail! It is attached to 5 ¾ inches of black and white rayon ribbon. One of the best!
