Bavarian Military Merit Cross 3rd Class with Swords 1866

Issued by the German State of Bavaria, this military merit cross comes with Swords! The medal is tombak based, die struck and bronze washed. The obverse depicts a centrally placed stylized "L" below a crown all on a smooth backing. This is then surrounded by a white belt that reads "Merenti". This is on a pebbled cross and below tow crossed broad swords. The reverse has a centrally placed lion and reads "1866". Beautiful bronze wash remains! Wonderful piece with 6" of post-war replacement ribbon!
