Volkswagen - KdF-Wagen Gautag Badge 1939

A rare a desirable badge! Collect all of the variant colors: orange, brown, red, green, blue and black. It is a two piece construction made out of a die stamped aluminum alloy base that has been silver washed and crimped to a green pressed paper packing. The oval shaped obverse features, from top to bottom; a national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika in its talons, above a VW Beetle that has “KdF-Wagen” (Kraft durch Freude - Strength through Joy) on it, above a bannered “Gautag” a sailing ship on the ocean, above “Ost-Hannover 1939” and set up boulders and trees which lies on green backing. The reverse features a glued on steel pin assembly that remains in well working condition, along with all six exterior prongs that crimp the paper in place. Beautiful detail and condition! See page 753 of Tieste. one wee scuff/trear to the paper. It measures approximately 1 7/16 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches tall. I purchased this from the veterans family.
