Here we have a M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by WMW (Max Weyersberg Waffenfabrik) of Solingen. The blade on this one is rough. The stamped "WMW Waffen" looks good. It has a perfect tip and solid fit. Some crossgrain remains visible. The blade on this one rates VG/Exc. It shows heavy age grey, a few nicks to the cutting edge and the common surface scratches throughout. The leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The scabbard is steel based nickel-silver plated. It has an oxidized finish. It remains completely dent free and depicts nice detail throughout with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. The aluminum based burnished eagle crossguard has nice detail to the eagles head, feathers, wings and top side embossed oak leaves and acorns. The steel oxidized ferrule and burnished aluminum pommel both look good. The trylon grip has a few small cracks and dirt to the crevasses. The springy aluminum wire wrap remains tightly intact. This one came from a local Canadian who found them when he was a kid in the rafters of an old barn! The right price and piece for the right guy!
