Here we have a Hitler Youth “Mitte Thüringen” District Sleeve Triangle (Obergauarmdreieck)! Introduced January 1st 1933, this would we worn on the upper left sleeve listing the wearers unit location in the organizational control; Obergebiet/Obergau (Higher Organizational Control) followed by the Gebiet (Lower Organizational Control). It is constructed out of black and yellow machine embroidered stitching to a black cotton base. The triangular shaped obverse reads: “Mitte Thüringen” in yellow gothic style script, above a black background, all surrounded by a thin yellow border. The reverse two top edges have been folded over and re-enforced with black stitching. It continues to hold bright and clear color. The corners have threads where it would have been stitched to the uniform and removed. It measures approximately 3 ½ inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. A nice HJ Sleeve Triangle!
