Well here a nice matching example by Horster! The plated bade on this one looks good! It retains a nice finish with just a bit of plating lifting. It has a perfect fit and sharp tip! The stamped "E&F Horster Solingen", spine proof stamp and Horster maker mark are all correctly executed! The blade rates Exc+. It has normal scratches throughout and the tip has been period shortened. This was done, along with the o hole in the grip, during the period in the re-issue process. The black leather scabbard body looks excellent. It has some wear and age yet retains all of its stitching. The four vertical lines running through it giving it that finishing touch of German detail! The early brass based nickel plated scalloped scabbard fittings look great as well! They are perfectly dent-free and the plating remains intact and they are both tightly secured with the staples. The reverse of the top fitting is marked "S.D.VI.436." matching the reverse of the crossguard. This indicates issue to Schutzpolizei Polizeiverwaltung Dusseldorf IV". The scabbard snugly fits the hilt. The brass based, nickel plated hilt looks great! It depicts wonderful detail throughout, with the oak leaves and acorns and highly detailed pommel eagle! 95% of the plating remains intact with just a bit of loss to the high areas. The hilt matches the scabbard in color and wear. The multi-toned stag grip plates are tightly secured with two aluminum rivets. The centrally placed aluminum police eagle is properly pins and still shows some nice detail. This piece also comes with a well-worn but supple and well marked frog. A great example of a matching police bayonet by Horster. Snatch it up before someone else does!
