Japanese Type 95 Army NCO Side Latch

Here we have a side latch example. This is a Nagoya sword produced by Seki. I do like these as they are unique and always desired by experienced collectors. The 26 1/4" inch machine made blade is in fine shape, It is rating Exc++. The fit is nice and tight. Just a wee bit of wear and the odd scuff is the only defect to be found. The blade is nice and clean with no nicks and no gray, which is quite unusual for a field used sword. The scabbard is period factory green. It does have several wear spots / loss of paint but really quite good and continues to remain dent free. The throat is stamped 131114 matching the blade. The tsuba is a blackened iron construction, the side has an orifice utilized by the release mechanism. The cast grip is painted showing honest wear. The fuchi has no readable markings as is often seen with these later iron based examples, (see Dawson's ref pg 187). Really a very nice example with a great blade and nice paint.
