Here we have a 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger by P. D. Luneshloss. The plated blade on this one shows runner marks age stain and scuffs. The deeply etched “P. D. Luneshloss Solingen” maker mark is crisp and beautifully executed! The blade rates Exc. The blue pebbled leather buffer pad remains intact. The original steel based, blue pebbled leather scabbard body has age cracking and leather loss. There is a scratch down the back side. I considered havng this proffessionally releathered and selling it for $1k but I try to leave stuff as is. All I did to this was to apply some blue shoe polish cleaning it up some. It has 96%+ leather coverage with the worse loss to the seam area. The steel based, plated scabbard fittings look good with some normal plating loss and surface oxidation. All five screws remain intact. The aluminum chain has 9 lower and 6 upper ringlets that ends at a well working “Ges. Gesch.” and “OLC” marked clip. The zinc alloy, plated hilt fittings look good. They retain 70% plating coverage. Only remnants of the gilding remains to the four sun wheel swastikas. The grip leather remains in excellent condition! The brass triple wire wrap continues to remain tightly. A fine example.
