A Navy Officers Sword by Alcoso (Alexander Coppel) of Solingen ‐ Model No. 308 (Kreigsmarine Säbel). Tones of work and time went in these and it shows! This one has a gorgeous triple etched, single fuller, 31 ¾ inch long plated blade. The detail to the ships, anchors, Poseidon’s trident, vines and leaf motif are all intricate and stunning. The stamped “ACS” (Alcoso Solingen) is perfectly executed. The tip is perfect and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates an easy NM. It shows the slightest evidence of age with the odd spot and surface scratches throughout. The red felt buffer pad remains intact. The elaborate leather scabbard is in great shape. The leather shows a bend towards the tip which is very common on these. All of the stitching remains intact. The scabbard has three ornate brass scabbard fittings that are each attached with a single staple. The lowest staple has one broken prong. There is one pressure mark to the lowest fitting. The drag is numbered: “027-07-7428”. The multi-piece hilt consists of a fire gilded brass base and celluloid over wood covered grip. The hilt display elegant details throughout with oak leaves, acorns and a prominent fouled anchor. The lion head pommel display a red and green jeweled eyes. The mane is all hand enhanced. The tang has been expertly hidden with hand work disguising it into the lion's mane. The grip has nice age toning and the triple brass wire wrap is all intact. This one comes with a minty pommel. A rare sword one you are sure to enjoy!
