Here we have a Very Rare Early M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Josef Hack GmbH of Steyr. The tapered tang, plated blade on this one looks good. The stamped fish “Hack-Werke” maker mark is beautifully executed. The platting on the blade gives it a nice mirror like finish. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade on this one rates in at Exc++. It shows typical runner marks and plating loss. The leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The scabbard is steel based and nickel-silver plated. It remains completely dent free. It depicts nice detail throughout with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. Both throat retain screws remain intact. The obverse edge of the scabbard and top scabbard band show wear where the crossguard has hit it 1000+ times over the past 80 years. A great sign of authenticity! The aluminum-alloy based burnished eagle crossguard has nice detail to the eagles head, feathers, wings and top side hand enhanced oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule and burnished aluminum pommel both look excellent. The trylon grip has gorgeous age toning and no cracks or chips. The springy aluminum wire wrap remains tightly intact. This piece is very rare and another likely won’t come up again for sale in years so now’s your chance!
