Early SA Dagger by Karl Tiegel

Ok so these guys made very few SA’s, they rate a 10 out of 10 on the McSarr. This blade is hurtin’ having been cleaned very hard. The motto etch has been scrubbed cleaned, but the maker mark, “Tiegelwerk” and the location “Riemberg Bez. Breslau" is dark. BTW, I know of no other maker located in Breslau. There is no crossgrain left and age throughout the blade. The edges are a bit rough but there’s no sharpening. The blade rates an VG/Exc. Undented scabbard body has pretty good finish with 90% of the anodizing intact. The ball is banged in pretty good. The fittings show period wear and matching patina. The fittings are all nickel silver. All screws are intact! Hardwood handle displays good grain and is free of chips but does suffer lots of small hits and bumps. Eagle is perfectly fit with patina to the recesses. Roundel retains 90% of enamel. The handle shoulders and radii poorly fit the solid nickel guards. The crossguard is stamped "S". Blade is poorly set into the crossguard. All the patina matches everywhere but the fits are not there. I suspect someone has replaced something on this dagger as the fits are not what I’ve come to expect on an early SA. Regardless, the blade is rare as heck so worth serious consideration for the guy collecting rare makers.
