Dr. Fritz Todt Prize in Gold

A very rare award! In honor of Dr. Fritz Todt's (Leader of the Organization Todt) memory, Hitler instituted the Dr. Fritz Todt Prize on November 12th 1943, as an award to industrial inventors/civil/engineering personnel who had made a significant contribution in furthering the war effort. The award is constructed out of a die struck zinc alloy base that has been gold gilded. The obverse features a large closed winged eagle perched above a three step pedestal that reads: “Dr. Fritz Todt” and has a mobile swastika that is surrounded by a cogwheel to the bottom. The full back reverse features the appropriate soldered on oval plate c-shaped tombak catch, soldered on oval plate steel barrel hinge and tapered tombak pin. The pin is stagnant under the catch. The award displays beautiful highlights and detail! It measures approximately 2 5/8 inches tall by 1 5/8 inches wide. A rare piece deserving of a good home!
