A Tapferkeits und Verdienst Auszeichnung für Ostvölker 1. Klasse in Gold. The 1st Class Ostvolk Medal was awarded for bravery to military and paramilitary personnel from the former Soviet Union. It is constructed out of a die struck, zinc base that has been gold gilded. The obverse depicts a centrally placed plant/flower that is surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath that is encircled by a rope pattern above two crossed broad swords and an eight pointed sunburst pattern. The reverse shows a semi-hollow back with the correct gilded; soldered on steel block hinge, soldered on tombak round plate flatwire catch and steel coke bottle pin. There is a small crack to the stress point of the pin. Faint gold gilded remains intact. This piece continues to display nice detail throughout! It measures approximately 2 inches wide and tall. A great piece!
