A once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase an extremely rare and desirable Luftwaffe weiße Sommer Schirmmütze für General by Clemens Wagner of Braunschweig. The visor top is constructed out of a light white cotton with a black horizontally ribbed and interwoven mohair center band and a blue grey base. The center band is bordered in gold interwoven bullion piping. To the front-center of the cap is a hand embroidered, second pattern Luftwaffe Generals cap eagle in bright gold bullion wire threads with rayon accents on a summer white wool base. The eagle is attached with three black push buttons. Below the eagle, to the center-band, is a stitched on Luftwaffe winged wreath and cockade that is constructed out of hand embroidered gold bullion and rayon wire threads on a black wool base. Below the wreath is the gold interwoven bullion chin cord that is attached at the sides with two peened on gilded tombak pebbled buttons. The front features a crazed, stitched on black lacquered visor peak with a re-enforcement edge. The interior has a tan brown leather sweatband that has vent holes to the forehead, a bow tie to the back and two oval aluminum and black painted “H” “F” buttons. It shows minor sweat stains. The base of the interior has an orange/pink ribbed silk lining under a fragile clear diamond moisture shield (with a cigarette burn) over the pre-war Clemens Wagner manufacturers logo which reads, in gold: “CW” encompassed by “Dauerhaftigkeit - Beste Deutsch Marke - Formenschönheit” (Durability – Best German Brand – Beauty of Form). The interior is nice and clean. The white exterior shows some age toning along with the odd catch and soil mark. It is in gorgeous shape. An extremely rare and desirable pre-war visor.
