1st time I've ever seen this with the ribbon bar integrated into the case. The 3rd Class Social Welfare Award is a two piece die struck construction that has been fire gilded and finished with black and white enamel work. The obverse features a separately applied, black and gold outlined, closed winged, Social Welfare national eagle with a gold wreathed black mobile swastika in its talons. The eagle is above a white cross that is bordered in gold. The reverse shows a gold square cross that has been Jeweller engraved, "Charlotte Gutschmidt Ob. Wachtfuhrerin 20.4.42". The detail, fire gilt and enamel work are just beautiful! Attached to the top is a soldered loop and ring. This piece also comes with approximately 9 inches of folded, ribbed, red and white rayon ribbon. The ribbon is in great shape. The award comes housed in its appropriate case. The case is made of wood and pressed cardboard, with a simulated, grained, red leather covering. To the front is a spring loaded, closure button. To the back is a magnetic, staggered, internal bar hinge. Both function well. The interior of the top lid of the case is lined in a blue satin and has an underlying pad. The top also has a separate belt that holds the ribbon. The bottom interior of the case is made of a blue felt material that outlines the award an the bar. The case is in excellent condition! A complete piece just right for your collection!
