Here's a rare SS dagger which is prized among the collecting community! This is a RZM marked dagger it however displays all the quality of an early dagger with a nickel fittings. The blade on this one has had a rough life. It's got stain and age. The acid etched "RZM M7/29" maker mark and "Meine Ehre heisst Treue!" (With the exclamation point!) motto are both nicely executed, some crossgain remains. The tip comes to a perfect point and the blade / crossguard fit is perfect. The blade rates VG. I believe it has been cleaned at some point in its life. There is some surface scratching throughout along with the common age graying. The black period painted scabbard has surface scratches, oxidization and wear throughout, BTW, for those of you wondering, Yes! these are supposed to be painted scabbards. It continues to remain completely dent free! The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent. All four screws remain intact! The ball continues to remain perfectly round! The scabbard / crossguard fit looks great and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards look great, they have high copper content and have taken on a yellow tinge, They show some common period wear! The black hardwood grip looks good. It has a good chip out of the lower obverse left. As you know finding a flawless SS grip is really hard to come by. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed! It looks as though someone had tried to make a small filling in between its fit. The SS roundel retains 100% of its enamel, has a nice bright shine as it sits perfectly in the grip. There is some talk about these pieces being attributed to a special SS unit or for presentation, although nothing is for sure. A rare one here for the taking!
