A Model 1942 Railway Platform Supervisor / Station Master (Pay-group 7a to 11) Visor Cap. It is constructed out of the red wool, with a black velvet center band and red piping. Attached to the obverse is a die stamped, aluminum based, gold gilded DRB cap eagle and a DRB multi piece cockade and gilded winged wheel. To the sides are two peened on multi piece aluminum/steel gold gilded pebbled side buttons that hold the yellow and blue interwoven chin cord in place. The front also features a black lacquered visor peak with a cross hatched brown underside. The interior has a dark brown worn/crazed leather sweatband that is stitched at the side. It also has a stitched on cloth middle section and tan brown lacquered leather lining. The base of the lining is size stamped “59 1/2” and “R-B-Kleil. K. Nm 14. XII. 40”. The moisture shield is lost to time. There are several moth holes and thining throughout the wool and piping. A rare one!
