Love the Navy sword, this is a beauty that has patinaed beautiful. This one has a fine triple etched blade, with light wear. There has been no sharpening and I'll rate it conservatively Exc++. The blade is stamped with the early ALCOSO scales maker mark they used from the Wiemar period through the early 30's. The elaborate leather scabbard is in pretty good shape. The leather is dried out shows wear scuffs and some bends that we normally see on these from honest period wear. The lower end is worn soft. There are no dents. The three gilt brass fittings are correctly secured with staples and adorned with intricate engraved wave patterns. The bone grip is in good condition with the original triple brass wire wrap. There is some minor wear to the grip but no chips or cracks. The entire hilt is brass based and hand chased with great care. The ferrule has fine detailed acorns and oak leaves. The tang has been expertly hidden with hand work disguising it into the lion's mane. Finally nicely finishing this is an original golden portepee.
