An Early Model 1933 Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by May & Vom Hau of Solingen-Ohligs. The blade on this one appears to have been cleaned by a wire brush. The acid etched “Alles für Deutschland” motto and “MVH May & Vom Hau Solingen-Ohligs” maker mark are both nicely executed! The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit remains nice and tight! This blade rates an Exc. It shows scratches and heavy age grey/spotting throughout. The steel based and brown anodized scabbard looks wonderful! It continues to retain the majority of its original factory lacquer coating and remains completely dent free! The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in wonderful condition. All four scabbard screws remain intact and the ball is perfectly round! The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel-silver crossguards match the scabbard fittings perfectly! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked “Ho” (off to the one side as it always is). The brown hardwood grip looks great! It has two hairline cracks to either side of the roundel and the common pressure marks throughout. The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. It has a hanger with an atypical clip it has obviously been replaced with a period equipment clip. The clip is marked “HRE 38 DRGM” to the interior. If you don’t like it you can take it off and I purchased this exactly as it is from the Veterans Family. A solid piece!
