Here we have an Early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by ASSO (Arthur Schüttelhöfer) of Solingen-Wald. The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto is light and the “ASSO Solingen” maker mark and “Ges. Geschützt” patent are beautifully executed! The fit continues to remain nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates a solid Exc+. It shows surface scratches and age grey/spotting throughout along with several hits to the cutting edge. The buffer pad is a replacement. The scabbard is steel based and black anodized. It shows oxidization spotting throughout and remains completely dent free. The black scabbard leather is in excellent condition. All of its rivets are intact and the snap continues to work well. It is marked: “LFS”. The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 90% of its plating. Typical wear where the snap/rivets are. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are in perfect condition and are tightly secured to the hilt with two solid nickel-silver rivets. The small HJ diamond retains 97% of its enamel. A nice piece with some great features!
