An Early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Whil. Wagner of Solingen-Merscheid. The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto is light yet still visible and the “Whil. Wagner WW Solingen-Merscheid” maker mark are nicely executed! The fit continues to remain nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates an Exc+. It shows surface scratches and age grey/spotting throughout along with minor rough spots to the cutting edge. The black buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard is steel based and black painted. It shows oxidization spotting to the obverse and some spidering to the reverse. It hold 70%+ of its original painted finish and continues to remain completely dent free. The black/brown scabbard leather is in good condition. It has two center rivets where it has either been period repaired or they were at the end of their leather roll and they add the other portion. Either way its fine and period. The snap continues to work well. The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 70% of its plating. Typical wear where the snap/rivets are. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are in perfect condition and are tightly secured to the hilt with two solid nickel-silver rivets. The small wiggly HJ diamond retains 75%+ of its enamel. This is a rare maker to find!
