This is a nice 1883 patterned WWII Imperial Japanese Naval officer dirk. This example is of early construction with machine made 10" blade. The blade shows no age but suffers some shapening. All in all is a nice example if you can forgive the scuffs. The crossguard is gilt brass with a stamp under the one quillion The grip is triple brass wire wrapped over ray skin. All grip wire and fittings to include the brass cherry blossom on either side are intact and quite nice! The saya (scabbard) is wood with shark skin cover. It has some wear. Both fittings have nice detail. The lock works perfectly
