Here we have 2 award documents and a Cased Olympic Memorial Medal 1936 with mini. A Cased Olympia-Erinnerungsmedaille 1936. The German Olympic Memorial Medal was instituted July 31st 1936 and was awarded for services rendered to the 1936 Olympic Games. It is a constructed out of a die stamped steel based that has been silver plated. The round shaped obverse features a German national eagle (with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons) in front of a pedestal that has the five Olympic rings to the top and at the bottom the eagle is flanked by “1936” (19 - left, 36 - right). The reverse depicts the script: “Für Verdienstvolle Mitarbeit Bei Den Olympischen Spielen 1936” (For Meritorious Collaboration at the Olympic Games 1936) above a four piece oak leaf and acorn cluster. To the top is a soldered on loop and ring which holds approximately 3 ¾ inches of folded orange, white and black rayon ribbon. The reverse top has a stitched on gilded brass pin, hinge and catch assembly that remains in well working condition. It measures approximately 1 7/16 inches in diameter. Beautiful silver wash remains! The award comes housed in its appropriate case. The case is constructed out of wood and pressed cardboard with a simulated, grained, white, leather covering. To the top is a beautiful pressed gold gilded Olympic rings and border. The interior top lid is lined in a gray silk and has an underlying pad. The bottom interior of the case is covered in a light blue/grey velvet and outlines the award, ring and pin. To the front is a white painted round spring loaded closure button. To the back is a gilded steel staggered piano hinge. The hinge and the closure button continue to function well. The case is in excellent condition, only staining/scuffs throughout and a contemporary sticker on reverse, (you can removed). It measures approximately 4 3/8 inches long by 2 9/16 inches wide by 7/8 of an inch thick. This comes with a mini award with correct small ribbon. Included is the correct award document, and a diploma from the Technical school in Berlin to the same person, Herrn Erich Loewe. This comes in an original period mailing tube.
