SMF truly made some wonderful 2nd Model Luftwaffe Daggers! The more desirable plated blade on this one looks great! It has a beautifully executed “SMF Solingen” maker mark, with a stamped proof mark just above it! It has a perfect tip and solid fit. The plating looks great as well, giving it a nice mirror like finish! The blade on this one rates an easy Exc++. It shows the common runner marks and some age peppering towards the tip. The original blue pebbled buffer pad remains intact. The steel based airplane grey scabbard is a Paul Weyersberg product. Who, why and when it was put on this dagger I do not know. Such thinks happened in the period and afterwards too. Regardless it looks excellent! It depicts awesome details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It remains completely dent free and the two headless throat retaining screws remain intact! The burnished aluminum SMF Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The aluminum pommel is beautifully hand enhanced to the sides and has those two proud gold gilded swastika you want to see, surrounded by oak leaves and acorns. 95%+ of the gold gilding remains intact! These are just beautiful and make for a wonderful display that the other just can’t compare to! The early trylon grip has aged to a nice yellow over time. No chips or splits! The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. So I used some of the sellers pics in the 2nd group of pics. Pls note the grip color is closer to the 1st pics and the seller removed the portepee.
