A NSFK Flugzeugführerabzeichen für Motorflugzeuge (2.Form). Instituted May 1st, 1939 by NSFK-Korpsführer General der Flieger Christiansen. It is constructed out of a die molded nickel-silver base that has been silvered and burnished. The obverse depicts a soaring two seater plane above an NSFK emblem, which features; the Greek god ‘Icarus’ behind a mobile swastika, all on an oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The hollow back reverse is patent marked and numbered: “Ges. Gesch. 22639”. It also features a soldered on tombak rectangular wire catch, soldered on sheet hinge and pin. All of the components remain working well and are non-magnetic. It measures 1 15/16 inches wide by 2 ¼ inches tall. In my opinion the maker is Werner Redo of Saarlautern. A rare and desirable award.
