40 Year Faithful Service Cross in Packet by Deschler

A Treuedienst-Ehrenzeichen 1.Stufe für 40 Jahre 1938 mit der Papiertüte by Deschler & Sohn of München. The 40 Year Faithful Service Cross was awarded to all officials, employees, and laborers at any level of the public service (local, regional or national) who completed 40 years of service. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been gold gilded and contains black enamel work all behind a protective lacquer coating. The obverse features a pebbled pattée style cross that has an oak leaf wreath visible through the corners and a centrally placed black static swastika / “Fur Treue Dienste” (For Faithful Service) to the reverse. To the top is a soldered on loop and ring. The gold gilt wonderfully shines in the light and the enamel work is 100%! The award measures approximately 1 5/8 inches wide and tall. Accompanying the award is 7 1/2 inches of folded blue rayon ribbon. Both the cross and ribbon come housed in its appropriate issue paper packet that has been folded and glued together. It reads, in black ink: “Treuedienst-Ehrenzeichen 1.Stufe” to the obverse and “Deschler & Sohn München 9” to the reverse surrounded by a rectangular border. The reverse also shows pencil scribblings. There are minor tears to the stress points. It measures 4 1/8 inches wide by 5 inches tall. A beautiful assembly and much rarer than the cased variation.
