A very rare Kraft Durch Freude (KdF – Stength Through Joy) DAF Banner. It is constructed out of multi-piece died cotton base that have been stitched together. The rectangular shaped obverse features a centrally placed KdF emblem, which consists of a red mobile swastika, surrounded by a black cog wheel above a swirl (tire/spokes rotating) design. The emblem is above a red background with a white border. The reverse features the red background and reveals stitching. The fly end has a stitched on white cotton/rayon 6.5 cm long fringe. The edges have re-enforced stitching. The hoist end has been folded over and stitched together. It has six ringlets that have been stitched on. One has broken and attached on with wire and string. There are thread catches, age wear and soilage throughout. It measures 112.5cm wide by 87.5 cm long. A very rare piece!
