Model 1934 - Schutzstaffel Ehrendolch mit Widmung by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. E. Rohm Honor daggers were granted to members of the SS/SA who either had interrupted service since December 31st 1931 or those who transferred from the Hitler Youth prior to December 31st 1931. After the Night of the Long Knives, Ernst Röhm was declared a “traitor” and removal of the inscription was mandated. To have the full inscription is a very rare reward! The blade on this one looks great! The acid etched “Meine Ehere Heißt Treue” motto, full “In herzlicher freundshaft, Ernst Röhm” inscription and “Carl Eickhorn Solingen” serrated tail maker mark are all crisp and beautifully executed! The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is perfect as well. The blade rates an easy Exc++. It shows the common age grey/spotting and runner marks/surface scratches throughout. The scabbard is steel based and black anodized. It shows minor oxidization spotting. The solid nickel-silver scalloped scabbard fittings are in excellent condition and have beautifully patinaed with time. The ball has a slight pressure mark to the bottom, yet retains a nice round profile. All four screws remain intact! The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect! The solid nickel-silver match the scabbard fittings perfectly. The reverse of the crossguard is district stamped “I” (Munich). The black hardwood grip shows pressure marks throughout and there is a crack to the obverse. The solid nickel silver eagle retains beautiful detail and has a perfect fit. The SS runes retains 90%+ of its enamel and has perfect fit. A very rare piece, found in only the most exclusive collections!
