Municipal Shako by Maury

Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

Here we have a nice example of a 1936 pattern Municipal Shako by Maury & Co of Offenbach. It is constructed out of a rigid black vulcanfiber body with a green wool covering. The obverse features the correct silvered aluminum cap eagle and cockade. The cap eagle holds both of its aluminum male screw pieces, washers and nuts. The back is maker marked "JFS 1941). The cockade has about 40% of its original paint still intact. The back arm is supposed to fold out but it seems stuck and I'm not going to force it for fear of breaking it. Not a huge deal if it really bugs you you can buy a replacement for less than $100. The body shows wear and minor mothing, staining and discoloration. The top piece and front/back visors show age spidering and retainb all their stitching. The chin strap has wear. The interior looks great. The brown leather liner remains intact with only minor age staining/scuffs. It is personalized/named: "Bork". The draw string remains. The top is maker marked and sized. Overall it's a fine piece.
