A great find from the Max Show! The thin blade on this one looks great. The acid etched "Blut und Ehre!" motto and "Carl Heidelberg Solingen" / "Ges. Gesch." maker marks are all nicely executed! The fit continues to remain nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc+. It shows some wear, scratches and age grey throughout. The leather buffer is a replacement I put on. The early steel based black anodized scabbard looks great! It had no finish left on it when I obtained this so I re-anodized it, hope not perfect but looks much better. It remains completely dent free. The scabbard leather is aged. someone pulled on the leather snap and busted the leather. I glued it back on a repaired that area as shown. Do not snap it back this old leather is not strong. It shows minor cracking. It looks like it has a period repair the the center rivet. The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 80%+ of its plating. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are in near perfect condition. Both plated nickel rivets tightly secure the plates to the hilt. The small wiggly HJ diamond retains 100% of its enamel. A great looking early one with a strong motto that I cleaned up some but everything is completely disclosed.
