Prinzen – Abzeichen für Marine-Flugzeugführer auf Landflugzeugen 1915 by Paul Meybauer of Berlin. Instituted February 23rd 1915 by the King of Prussia and the Emperor of the German Empire Wilhelm II to pilots of the Navy, who completed their service in the war on land planes. Approximately 230 badges were awarded making it one of the rarest badges of the Airforce. It is constructed out of a die struck bronze base that has been gold gilded. The oval shaped obverse features an eagle soaring below the sun and above a landscape surrounded by a half oak leaf and acorn, half laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom with a bow tie and below a Prussian style crown. The full back reverse is maker marked with Paul Meybaures Crest and also features a soldered on round wire catch, soldered on block hinge and pin. All of the components remain in well working condition. The detail is beautiful the gilding is impeccable! It measures 1 3/16 inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. The best one on the market!
