Luftwaffe Judiciary Generals Service Tunic

Judge Dr. Karl Eckerle (June 4th 1898 - March 15th 1976) Luftwaffe Judiciary Generals Service Tunic (Dienstbluse). Promoted to General Judge on 01/05/1944. Winner of the German Cross in Silver (May 1st 1945). I’ve included photocopies of the DKiS award document with a cover letter from the commander of the German Air Force in the US zone from 06/20/1945. It is constructed from a fine quality blue-gray gabardine exterior, with a grey silk-rayon blend interior lining. The front of the tunic bears four pleated pockets, each closed by a pebbled gold gilt aluminum button. The placket is closed with four pebbled gold giltaluminum buttons and features a 2nd Class War Merit ribbon to the top button hole. The arms feature French style cuffs. To the right breast is a hand sewn on fine quality hand embroidered gold bullion 2nd pattern Luftwaffe Generals eagle on a blue grey wool backing. The collar features two machine stitched on Truppensonderdienst Judiciary General rank collar tabs that are constructed of buckram base, covered in a wine red wool with hand embroidered gold bullion piping that features two gulls surrounded by an oak leaf and acorn wreath. The “sew on” type Generalmajor rank shoulder boards feature a wine red wool base with an interwoven silver and gold bullion Russian Braid thread underneath a gilded pebbled button. Apart from the breast eagle effects are all originally sewn to the tunic. Above the top left pocket are two stitched loops with six more on/beneath the left pocket. The top right breast pocket features three loops which was appropriate for his German Cross in Silver. The interior features a silky smooth rayon blend material, that is met at the arms by a white and grey pinstripe liner. The top neck features the hang loop. There is one interior one pocket, it is not named. The tunic measures approximately 41 cm across the shoulders, a 63 cm sleeve length and 68 ½ cm to the spine. Previously sold by Helmut Weitze. It is a wonderfully preserved tunic that is in an overall beautiful condition.

Karl Eckerle, born in Lemberg on June 4, 1898, served as a lieutenant in the First World War in the 3rd Bayer. Foot Artillery Regiment, joined in 1936 as a lawyer of the Air Force, was from 1940 chief judge in the Air Fleet Command 3 then 6, came on May 8, 1945 in prisoner of war, from which he was released in 1947. He died on 15 March 1976 in Mindelheim.
