A 1933 SA Honor Dagger by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. Silver honor crossguards and tang nut feature an even age throughout. Upper and lower crossguards are internally stamped with "46". Grip is a medium contour ridge constructed type and it remains in excellent condition fitting the crossguards nicely with a minor chip in upper obverse and reverse right corner along upper guard. Very attractive color tones. SA runes button is beautifully set and has perfect enamel. Grip eagle is a fine silver-toned example, being the “high necked” variety. Scabbard shell is completely straight and is re-covered with a fine grained brown leather. Leather runs up to but not under the upper and lower fittings. Scabbard fittings have burnished paneled lines bordering their design on both surfaces and match the tone of the silver crossguards. All of the fittings are in fine condition showing some usage, but absolutely no abuse. Lower ball has never been dropped and is in excellent condition. These scabbard fittings are retained by early silvered screws. Near perfect blade with no problem areas, pits or blemishes is a fine maiden hair, hand-forged, Damascus with very prominent patterns and features a slightly dark finish. It features a raised out, gilted, SA motto, “Alles Für Deutschland”. The raised out motto is flanked by oak leaf and acorn sprigs. There is approximately 70% of re-gilted finish throughout the motto. Reverse has the same prominent maiden-hair patterns with a raised out, gilted, 1933-35 Carl Eickhorn trademark at the ricasso. Trade mark depicts double oval circles with the firm’s name and location, “Carl Eickhorn/Solingen”. In the center is a detailed seated squirrel which has a serrated tail. Blade shoulders nicely fit the lower crossguard. Tang of this Damascus blade is stamped “DAMAST”. Additionally, the other side of the tang is stamped “136". An outstanding original SA Honor dagger rarely encountered compared to the chained examples.
