Lion Head Sword by Anton Wingen Jr.

A lovely pattern with superb detail! The 31 inch plated blade someone tried to sharpen. I say tried cause it's not sharp but if you look real hard you can seen the scuffs to the last 2mm of the cutting edge. The edge is rough and has some "nail-catchers". It has a beautifully stamped "Anton Wingen Jr. Solingen" maker mark! The tip comes to a good point and the fit remains nice and tight! The original leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard looks excellent! It shows little paint loss as one expect for these swords. It continues to retain 97%+ paint coverage and remains completely dent free! Both throat retaining screws remain intact as well! The brass based, gilded "P" guard hilt is just beautiful! The hand-enhanced details to the political style short winged eagle crossguard and proud lion head pommel are superb! The lion head has two red glass eyes that gives it a wonderful prowling gaze. The wood based, black celluloid covered grip is damage-free. This one is illustrated in page 134 of Angolia's "Swords of Germany 1900/1945" reference book. A wonderful piece you will feel proud to own!
