A M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by SMF. The desirable plated blade on this one looks great. It has a nice mirror like finish and perfect point and a solid fit. The blade on this one rates an Exc+. It shows surface scratches and minor oxidization spotting towards the tip. SMF typically used plated blades. The original tan leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based plated scabbard looks great! Typical SMF aluminum bands that are hand enhanced. It depicts awesome details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It remains completely dent free and the two headless throat retaining screws remain intact! The burnished aluminum SMF Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule and generic pommel looks excellent with crisp detail. The trylon grip has aged to a nice orange/yellow over time. Very typical to see the tone difference (orange obverse, yellow reverse) that the sun exposure can have on these. No chips or splits! The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. A nice unmarked SMF example!
