German WWII > Belt Buckles > Navy >
An Imperial German Navy (Kaiserliche Marine) Officer’s Daily Service Belt and Buckle. The buckle is constructed out of die stamped brass that has been gold gilded. The round shaped obverse features a “W” (King Wilhelm’s cypher) on top of a fouled anchor, which is below a Prussian style kings crown and is surrounded by a laurel leaf and berry wreath. The concave reverse retains its catch and keeper which is attached to the belt. The belt is constructed out of a cotton buckram base that is covered in a navy blue wool inseam and black ribbed rayon exterior. The one end features a dual wire hook that allows the belt to adjust with the seven brass grommets. The other end’s receiving clip / keeper is missing as are the dagger hanger loops. The belt measures 33 inches long. The belt is very worn. I’ve seen these buckles alone go for $150.
