A Named Japanese Navy Officers Visor Cap. The visor is covered in a dark navy blue wool. The crown features an internal wire stiffener. The crown and center band are pipped in that same navy blue. The front center features a naval officer’s insignia consisting of a brass fouled anchor secured with a gold bullion chain on a roundel below a silvered chrysanthemum and flanked with laurel leaves and silver berries. The insignia lies on the center band that is above a black leather chin strap, black lacquered leather visor peak and below the removable brown cotton top cover that is secured with a string to the back. The chin strap retains both leather sliders and is secured with gilt officer buttons bearing the anchor and chrysanthemum held to the cap with two prongs each. The interior features a black cotton lining and a brown leather sweat band with perforations throughout. The center interior features a cloth tag on which the owner's name is written in kanji with an ink red “5”. A nice one with a unique top cover.
