Here we have a two piece Army Visor Wreath and Cockade Insignia. It is constructed out of a multi-piece die stamped/injection molded, aluminum base that has been gold washed, black painted and contains a red felt plug. The obverse features a centrally placed national tri-color (red, white and black) cockade surrounded by a half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The reverse shows a hollow back with three crimped tombak prongs, (one is lost). I always like when there are tombak prongs as it is that much easier to attach to a visor. The cockade is early silver with wear in some areas down to the golden tombak. It measures approximately 2 ½ inches wide by 1 11/16 inches tall. Great condition!
