This is a nice 1883 patterned WWII Imperial Japanese Naval officer dirk. This example is of early construction with machine made 10" blade. The blade shows minor age and all in all is a nice example. The crossguard is gilt brass. The grip is triple brass wire wrapped over faux, (plastic) ray skin. All grip wire and fittings to include the brass cherry blossom on either side are intact and quite nice! The saya (scabbard) is wood with polished shark skin cover. It is flawless. Both fittings have nice detail. The lock works perfectly
